Goldfish have class.

I used to have a Black Moor like this one.  I called him Tuffy, because he was tough.  And lucky.  We didn’t really know how to take optimal care of small animals — just the basics.  It was the ’60s.  We had tiny turtles back then, too.  We were gentle and thoughtful kids who always tried to put ourselves in our pets’ places when thinking about what they might need or prefer.  Goldfish just need quite a bit more water than we used to think, however.  Carp, like pigs, produce lots and lots of waste, and also like pigs they get crowded by their humans into small spaces that quickly become disgusting, and they don’t like it any more than we would.
